After two of the most challenging years the world has seen in decades, if not a century, I’m delighted to say the work seed-funded by the TRACS/Scottish Storytelling Forum Andy Hunter Bursary in 2020 has finally reached the completion of  its first stage. With the final script completed in January, the four-part story cycle, now entitled The Òr Treasure Cycle,  delves deep into the centrality of Gaelic in Scotland via a, taking audiences on a journey through some of our most prominent Gaelic-influenced Placenames, as well as tales of Witches, Magic, and Woman Warrior Sgàthach, closing with the quintessential tale of the cycle of seasons and life, that of the Scottish mythic female Creator Deity, Cailleach Bheurra. The first play also begins where my own story with Gaelic begun, the tale common to many – Clearance, Emigration and and Diaspora Return, via a magical Treasure Chest and Hunt around Scotland.

The most beautiful part of this has been returning to work with one of Scotland’s longest established Theatre Companies specialising in highly engaging and entertaining work for children, young people and families – Hopscotch Theatre.
